Kure (Cur-ee) Beach is Carolina Beach's beautiful, relaxed and friendly neighbor to the South. Kure's beaches are wide, open, and unspoiled, with all the elbowroom one could wish for sunbathing, strolling, shelling, surfing or fishing. Kure Beach real estate and Kure Beach homes for sale are very reasonably priced for a nice community feel in a beach setting.
The town is largely residential, dotted with a variety of real estate options including million dollar homes for sale, oceanfront condos and quaint communities with Carolina style cottages. Once upon a time, some of the best real estate deals could be found in Kure Beach, but today this sleepy beach town is fast growing in popularity and price, although it's still possible to find a bargain on Kure Beach real estate. What you won't find is a lot of amusement park-style entertainment here, and there is very little in the way of shopping. A permanent population of about 1,800 residents makes for a very close community.
The town maintains its own municipal services and fire protection, and a local planner describes the community as being "like any big city, only smaller."
Kure Beach will remain small because it is completely surrounded. The Fort Fisher State Recreation Area and Historic Site are on the south side, and the U.S. Government owns the west side as part of a buffer zone for the military terminal at Sunny Point across the Cape Fear River. Carolina Beach borders the town on the north, and, of course, the Atlantic Ocean forms the east border.
Like neighboring Carolina Beach, the town is an angler's mecca, with annual fishing tournaments, bountiful surf fishing and boat launches nearby. Kure Beach Pier is one of the best fishing piers (over 711 feet long) on the East Coast. You can walk to "town" or bike along the central bike path. Fort Fisher is 3 miles to the south and offers a historic look into North Carolina's rich history as well as a state of the art Aquarium. Here for more about Fort Fisher...
For those seeking quiet, breath taking blue ocean and open beaches just a short drive from Wilmington conveniences, Kure Beach, NC is home.
